How to choose my Keywords ?

Keyword strategy.

Basically this what your whole Search Engine Optimisation (SEO) activity will revolve around. It’s the matching of ‘what you do’ with ‘what people search for’. This might sound a little complex, it’s not, but it is very important to get this clarity at the beginning, as everything else stems from it.

First I’d suggest you write down what YOU would type into the search engines (i.e. Google) to find YOUR specific products and services...try asking a friend or customer - let’s call these ‘key phrases’. Once you have a list of ‘key phrases’, the next step is to see how many people do actually search for these ‘key phrases’, as there is little point in optimising your website around terms that nobody ever searches for!

Luckily there are lots of tools on the web to help you find out how many people search for specific words or phrases, we always point customers to the Google Keyword Tool. Here you will be able to enter the phases you’ve noted above and see the volume of searches ‘locally’ (i.e. in the UK) per month.

Your goal is to find 5 to 10 ‘key phrases’ that clearly describe your business and are searched for!

Re: How to choose my Keywords ?

You really make it seem so easy with your presentation but I find this topic to be really something which I think I would never understand. It seems too complicated and very broad for me. I am looking forward for your next post, I will try to get the hang of it!
